In May 2007, my husband and I purchased a home in Atascocita Shores, and we wanted new carpet installed before move-in.
A contractor recommended we talk with Dave Patterson. We work for a major oil company, and some of the large carpet companies provide discounts to employees of our company – so of course we took a look at their products first.
When we went to Dave Patterson’s showroom afterward, we found ourselves in the presence of a true gentleman who was offering better quality for the price. Furthermore, Dave saved us quite a bit of time by quickly teaching us about pads (we wanted the fully sealed type, but we could get by with 2nd best grade). When he heard we wanted a high quality and easy to clean carpet, he asked us if any of the competition had shown us a carpet that can be cleaned with a mixture of 50% bleach with water. “Bleach on new carpet?” we asked; “won’t it make a faded spot?” “Nope, not my carpet”, Dave assured us. As we had an elderly dog, this was extremely appealing to us.
Dave drove out to our new home to measure and listen to our ideas, and he let us borrow his sample book for a couple of weeks, while we were trying to figure out which color of paint we wanted. Meanwhile we had circled back to the big carpet companies and learned that neither of them had a carpet that could be cleaned with a bleach/water mix.
We have been happy with the price, installation, and enduring quality of our carpet from Dave Patterson.
When Hurricane Ike came through our area, 16 months after installation, we had a bad stain on the carpet near some French doors in one room. I called Dave to ask if he could match the carpet, in case we needed to patch it. “No problem!”, Dave said – I can deliver in a week. But he also reminded me that we could probably clean the spot with bleach-water. Sure enough, the stain was easily removed, and we did not have to buy any replacement carpet.
We recommend other Houston-area residents give Dave a chance to quote – you will probably be happy you did.
